Dr. Jason Chow

Dr. Chow is known for his enthusiastic emphases on patient education and preventative care. He has worked extensively in the senior community, having been recognized for his work with Alzheimer’s patients and as a volunteer for the Orange County Department of Aging. His clinical interests include diabetes, ocular imaging, and specialty contact lens fittings such as corneal refractive therapy (orthodontics for your eyes!). When he is away from the office, he is a community leader in Lyme Disease advocacy & education. He also enjoys hiking, watching documentaries, and Giants baseball. A native of the San Francisco Bay area, Dr. Chow now lives in Morrisville.

Dr. Matthew D. Vizithum

Dr. Vizithum lives in Carrboro and his two children attend elementary school in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro School District. Dr. Vizithum and his family have been an integral part of the Carrboro community for years. Dr. Vizithum is highly dedicated to working with the local community and is involved at both the state and local levels to reduce vision loss from preventable causes, particularly glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Vizithum enjoys working with patients of all ages. When not seeing patients in Carrboro, Dr. Vizithum is seeing patients in nursing homes in Chapel Hill, Durham and Pittsboro.

Dr. Melissa Misko

Dr. Misko relocated to North Carolina in 2012 after teaching at the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry.  She loves helping patients of all ages learn something new about their eyes.  Dr. Misko prides herself in integrating her love of education with patient care for a thorough, friendly exam.  Dr. Misko enjoys running, traveling with her husband and Steelers football outside of work.

Dr. Priya Joshi

Dr. Priya Joshi is a Florida native who has recently relocated to North Carolina. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages! Dr. Joshi’s special interests include examining and educating patients with ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration, as well as fitting patients in all types of contact lenses. Dr. Joshi is also fluent in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, cooking, traveling and yoga.

Dr. Christy Byrd

Dr. Byrd, a native North Carolinian, lives in Chapel Hill. She has two children in the Chapel Hill City Schools, as well as a daughter at UNC. She is highly committed to patient care, through both private practice and community service. She has volunteered locally with the Lions Club vision van to provide screenings and also in Mexico on a Lions Club mission trip. Dr. Byrd is active in clinical care, serving as an Examiner for the National Board of Optometry, and providing vision care in private practice to patients of all ages. When Dr. Byrd is not in the office, she enjoys nature, reading and dancing.

Dr. J Scott Sikes

Dr. Sikes is a North Carolina native who has been in optometry from a very early age. He started working at his father’s office in high school and has been in the profession ever since. Dr. Sikes practiced in Wilmington before moving back to the Triangle area. Dr. Sikes enjoys treating all eye diseases, as well as fitting basic and specialty contact lenses for patients of all ages. He provides care for patients with Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration and Chronic Dry Eye. He enjoys actively co-managing patient care with primary care physicians as well as ophthalmologists whenever possible. Dr. Sikes is married to the love of his life, Afton, and they have two sons along with a Scottish Terrier named Tucker. He enjoys wake boarding, golf, surfing, woodworking and DIY projects when he isn’t seeing patients.
